SHOW YOUR ARTWORK @ CAMBRIDGE COMMON

ABOUT THE SPACE:

Cambridge Common is a comfortable, welcoming neighborhood restaurant with sensational comfort food at affordable prices and a full bar with 30 craft beers on tap! Our inviting wooden booths, large bar, and warm lighting, combined with our uber-friendly staff, have made us a local hotspot and cozy hangout. Cambridge Common is also home of Lizard Lounge, “an intimate, eclectic hot spot” (Rolling Stone), featuring live music nightly.

ABOUT THE WORK WE SHOW:

We love to show talented local artists who are making original and thought-provoking work! At Cambridge Common, we primarily display bright, colorful, and bold representational artwork, with an edge! Let our customers dine in an atmosphere of your making! We'd love to show your work in our energetic space.

Cambridge Common is a family friendly restaurant so the artwork should take that into consideration.  Unfortunately, due to the nature of our space, we cannot accommodate 3-dimensional artwork. Thank you for your interest in showing with us!

SPECS AND IMPORTANT INFO FOR SHOWING AT CAMBRIDGE COMMON:

  • Shows typically run approximately 6 weeks.

  • There are no fees for exhibitions, nor does the restaurant take any commission from any sold work.

  • There are a set number of lighting fixtures to highlight the work.

  • We (the restaurant/I) prefer not to hang work smaller than 18” x 24”, nor to have any work framed behind glass (glare is very high in the space).

  • There are two spaces for larger artworks (one horizontal and one vertical).

  • All pieces of artwork need to have D RINGS on the back so a clear wire can be placed across the back (of each). This must be done before install so the work can be ready-to-hang (clear wire will be installed the day of). We hang work from a wire system (not hooks or nails). **Some exceptions can be made with proper approval and discussion with the Art Consultant. The artist is responsible for suppling the alternative hanging method.**

  • Transportation, handling expenses, and risk of loss or damage incurred in the delivery of Artworks from the ARTIST to the RESTAURANT are the responsibility of the ARTIST.

  • I (the Art Consultant) will hang the shows along with the exhibiting artist.

  • Any selling is between the artist and the buyer; I do not take a commission, and the restaurant does not take a commission.

  • You can price your work however you like!

  • The artwork is insured for theft and fire; there is a $1,000.00 deductible. The restaurant will not be responsible for damage, theft, or fire under $1,000.

  • Although the restaurant does not provide openings for new shows, restaurant managers would love to help you put an opening together.  Whether or not you arrange for an opening, please feel free to invite people to see your work. If you are interested in having a reception, one can be organized between you and the managers.

  • The restaurant is very busy year-round. Because this is not a typical ‘gallery’ space, there is a certain amount of risk that accompanies hanging work in a busy restaurant. We (the restaurants/I) are extremely diligent to keep your work clean and safe at all times.  There is an Artist-Restaurant Agreement to be signed by you and by me, prior to and/or at the installation of your exhibition.

By submitting an inquiry below, you are not guaranteed a show, but will be included on my shortlist to give to the owners for review. Please feel free to contact me below if you have ANY questions or email me at: meagan@cambridgeeatsandbeats.com
